Mangsa serangan asid Reshma Qureshi, 19, jadi perhatian selepas muncul di pentas peragaan minggu fesyen New York baru-baru ini.

Walaupun dia kehilangan penglihatan sebelah mata dan mengalami kecatatan pada wajah, namun wanita warga India ini berjalan di atas pentas dengan yakin sambil tersenyum.

Reshma yang menyarungkan baju rekaan Archana Kochhar dari India itu telah menerima tepukan gemuruh daripada penonton.



Menurut Reshma, dia mahu memberikan semangat kepada mereka yang menerima nasib sama sepertinya untuk tampil yakin berdepan dengan masyarakat.

“Ini merupakan detik terindah dalam hidup saya dan bagi saya peluang untuk berjalan di pentas peragaan berprestij seperti ini amat penting untuk saya.

“Saya mahu tunjukkan pada wanita-wanita yang mengalami nasib seperti saya supaya yakin untuk berdepan dengan masyarakat.



“Ini mampu memberikan kekuatan dan keyakinan pada mereka. Ini juga sebagai bukti untuk mereka diluar sana supaya jangan menilai hanya pada luaran saja.

“Kita tidak akan tahu apa yang akan berlaku pada masa depan. Saya juga tidak sangka kejadian itu (simbah asid) terjadi pada saya.

“Sebab itu saya perlu bangkit dan berikan semangat kepada mereka yang senasib dengan saya,” katanya.

Sementara itu, kehadiran Reshma di minggu fesyen New York mendapat pelbagai reaksi positif dan juga kata-kata semangat daripada netizen seluruh negara.

Reshma telah dijemput oleh sebuah syarikat pengeluar fesyen FTL Moda untuk mengambil bahagian dalam Minggu Fesyen New York.
