Jadi, sampailah ke hari akad nikah. Kedua-dua pihak gembira saja. Pengantin dengan mukanya sudah tak sabar nak mengawan. Iyelah, musim hujan pada masa itu. Tok Kadi sampai, maka berlangsunglah acara akad nikah dan selamba dengan senafas sehaja pengantin lelaki lafazkan akad.

Hantaran pun bertukar tangan, begitu juga dengan mas kahwin. Semasa lelaki itu nak baca lafaz takliq, tiba-tiba saudara dari pihak perempuan bising.

“Duit hantaran tak cukup RM1,000 ni!”

Pengantin perempuan terus bangun dari tempat duduk. Tinggikan suara pada pengantin lelaki bertanya mengapa duit hantaran tak cukup.

“Apsal tak cukup RM1,000?” tanyanya.

Pihak sebelah perempuan siap perli-perli, “Dah tahu tak cukup duit, tetapi gatal sangat nak kahwin itu kenapa?!”

Yang pengantin lelaki, walaupun mata berkaca, dia senyum sahaja. Dia ambil mikrofon dan berkata,

“Baru jadi isteri tak sampai setengah jam dah camni? Sahaja saya tak cukupkan seribu sebab nak tengok kau orang macam mana. Ini saya ada bawa wang yang tidak cukup itu,” katanya sambil membuka beg yang berkepok-kepok duit not RM50 dan RM100 di dalamnya.

“Tak apalah, alang-alang semua ada di sini, boleh jadi saksi saya. Saya ceraikan awak dengan talak 3. Assalamualaikum,” katanya buat terakhir kali sebelum menjatuhkan mikrofon itu.

Selesai bersalaman, mereka terus beredar dari tempat itu.
